WOW BIKES - 2012

Radcliffe designed a selection of truly unique and remarkable bikes in collaboration with some top names from the world of design, music and fashion, including designer Ron Arad, singer Paloma Faith, illustrator Natasha Law, fashion designer Alice Temperley, and footwear designer Patrick Cox.

The bikes were available for guests of the luxury W Hotel in Leicester Square before being auctioned off to raise funds for Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.

These bikes are truly at the cutting edge of modern design through his collaboration with Ron Arad’s bike which is, “reinventing the wheel quite literally”, says Benedict. With its unconventional wheel system this bike is not only impressive to behold, but functional.

Others designs include Paloma Faith’s 50’s themed vintage bike, which “oozes vintage, glamour and music”, while Natasha Law’s ‘bar-on-a-bike’, complete with drinks rack and a limited edition bottle of Belvedere vodka, is the perfect house party on two wheels. Benedict’s own bike, the New York Bike, uses battery powered photoluminescence string weaved through the frame to form New York’s grid design layout and can even be used as a map.

Radcliffe used Ted James iconic ESB frame for the ARAD, COX and his own bike and fabricated three special unofficial ESB step-thru frames for Temperly, Faith and Law. This was done for an aesthetic continuity.
